Wave goodbye, wave hello

Salon reports that one of only 21 wave-power generation projects has been dry-docked, due to “technical and financial difficulties.” Hopefully, this is just a small setback for tide or wave-related projects; I’ve always felt that somehow harnessing wave and tidal power would be awesome (and naively, I suppose, easy, because waves and the tides are so palpably high-energy and regular), and I hope that these small failures won’t discourage too many companies from investing in the further research obviously needed to get this technology off the ground.

Encouragingly, it seems that a massive project to place 300 turbines off the coast of South Korea and generate 300mW of power seems to be going ahead as planned (but I couldn’t find any updates beyond last year – I’ll let you know if I can find anything more out).
